Characterization and Impact of Waste Plastic Oil in a Variable Compression Ratio Diesel Engine

The characterization of pyrolysis oil obtained from mixed waste plastics and its utilization in a compression ignition engine were investigated. chemical compositions physicochemical properties distilled plastic (WPO) crude (CWPO) analyzed. experiment was conducted with variable ratio diesel at various loads ratios to evaluate combustion characteristics, exhaust emissions, performance. experimental results show that CWPO contains the highest percentage carbon atoms C4–C11 group, while WPO C12–C20 similar main fuel. According preliminary study properties, fuel selected for test different 16, 17, 18 operating 25%, 50%, 75% maximum torque an speed 1500 rpm. It found increasing load tends increase brake thermal efficiency. Increasing significantly shorter delay time state. A lower cetane index higher long chain compounds (C12–C20) could be factors affecting NOx, CO, HC emissions characteristics WPO, compared disadvantage by use can alleviated when is running high ratio.
